Red, Yellow or Blue sweets?

This is only a quick one but I wanted to write about a play I have just seen on the TV tonight called The Vote. If you live in the UK , you will nowbe sick of all the election stuff recently. Well, this play was made by the creative team at The Donmar Warehouse in London for this very night, broadcast simultaneously live with the time the play is set - from around 8.30 to 10pm when voting finishes.

The play starred Mark Gatiss, Catherine Tate and Judi Dench; and if you're like me and are glued to WhatsOnStage, you'll also recognise faces such as Hadley Fraser (as you've never seen him before), Rosalie Craig and Madalena Alberto making cameo appearances among many more.

Now, take a minute and have a think what might go wrong in a polling station? Ok, you have a list? Good; because everything that you put down probably happened in The Vote, and so with that came A LOT of comedy. The script was fast, hilarious and full of anecdotes - I don't think I'll think of sweets quite the same again. The Donmar was also the perfect place to set The Vote, as it is a really small theatre, so they could really use the space that would have been fairly accurate to a Primary School Hall.

This More4 broadcast was the last night of a 2 week run at the Donmar. Here's a link to it - there's no full video yet but hopefully it might be done in a few days:

Hopefully it works and you all get a chance to watch it, because The Vote was truly a fantastic play (it had both me and parents laughing, so for that alone it gets a big thumbs up from me), and was the perfect way to relax before crunch time - who know's now who's got the mammoth job of running the country........
